About this area

1,650 acres of active sand dune beside the Cimarron River near Waynoka. The dunes reach 75 feet and are genuinely active — migrating and free of vegetation — which is rare this far east. Oklahoma's best-known dune riding.

Specific to Little Sahara State Park

  • 💵 The sand fee applies to passengers; $15 per person per day.
  • Under 10 are free, and entering the park itself is free.
  • 🚩 A 10 foot whip with a 6x12 inch bright solid orange flag is required.
  • Mount the flag within 10 inches of the tip, measured from the ground.

  • 🚶 Foot traffic is prohibited out on the sand.
  • 🛡️ Dune buggies and 4x4 must have a roll bar and a seat belt for every passenger.
